Alaska 2024 - Day 14 Seward
22 August 2024
Our voyage from Valdez to Seward was smooth but was accompanied by mixed feelings. Both Galina and I didn't want our cruise and tour of Alaska to end, but we were also ready to settle back into our routine at home.
Our flight from Anchorage was kind of early in the afternoon, especially given the ~3 hour bus ride from Seward to Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage. Ted Stevens was a U.S. Senator from Alaska from 1968 to 2009. Quite a tenure!
We were originally scheduled to leave on a bus to Anchorage at 11:00 AM, but we thought that would cut it kind of close, so we asked for an earlier bus and were scheduled for the first one. We received and had to change out our color coded luggage tags to make sure our bags made it onto the right bus. The process was well organized and pretty painless with our bags packed except for what we needed in the morning, by 11:00 PM on the night before arrival. We left our bags in the passageway outside our room when we were done with them and they were whisked away to meet us at the airport.
The scenery on the bus ride was again magnificent. I only got a few photo's though.
The Ted Stevens International Airport is relatively small and well laid out with large taxidermy exhibits providing a view of some of the larger animals of Alaska.
We met some wonderful friends from the U.S. and Australia on the cruise and are keeping in touch with them.
